Dr. Karrie Valdetero Kilgore was born and raised in Crowley, La. She attended St. Michael Elementary and then Notre Dame High School. After graduating from Notre Dame, she began her college years at LSU-Eunice and utimately transferred to LSU-Baton Rouge. During this time, her Family Physician Dr Carl Richard allowed her to shadow him one summer. It was then that she realized she loved the idea of taking care of the entire family and decided to follow in his footsteps and become a Family Doctor. She graduated from LSU-Baton Rouge in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. She completed 1 year of training in medical technology at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and then continued her education at LSUMC in New Orleans and graduated with her medical degree in 1994. Her family medicine internship and residency were completed at LSUMC-Shreveport, La. Upon completion of residency in 1997, she returned to her hometown of Crowley to begin her lifelong dream and career in Family Medicine.
Dr. Kilgore is a member of American Academy of Family Physicians, Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians, Louisiana State Medical Society, and the Acadia Parish Medical Society. She has been listed with Castle Connolly Top Doctors for the past 5 years.
Dr. Kilgore is married to Kerry Thomas Kilgore, also of Crowley, and they have raised 2 children, Joshua Thomas and Abigail Claire Kilgore. She enjoys cooking and trying new recipes, spending time with her friends and family, and traveling.
